Straw bale building (5 days to 2 week courses)
Rock Farm Ecotourism Ltd will be offering Straw Bale Building courses from June 2013 with qualified instructors. The courses will include live workshops working on timber frame, straw bale commercial and residential buildings as well as a small round house.
Self sufficiency (5 days)
Rock Farm Ecotourism Ltd offers week long courses on self sufficiency for small holders. This course will cover the following areas:
Growing your own fruit, veg, herbs and nuts
Small scale animal husbandry focusing on pigs, chickens and miniature cattle
Conserving, storing and preserving food
Foraging and herbs for health
Beekeeping
Forest gardening
The courses will take place between June-July 2013. Courses include Straw bale building, clay plastering and lime plastering. The courses will be tutored by Bee Rowan. Bee has 15 years experience and for her, the process is just as important as the end build.
We will offer accommodation on the Slane Castle estate and all the food provided will be from the organic farm or locally sourced.
