Rock Farm Slane Glamping Ireland is hidden in a grove of sculpted sycamore, aged and wizened oak, ash, chestnut and hawthorn forming natural enclosures around the yurts and shepherd’s huts. This grove is surrounded by an undulating wild meadow with an open flat pasture below perched on a ledge of land overlooking the turrets of the infamous Slane Castle. From here you drop down to a secret bathing spot on the mighty but languid River Boyne. This is Ancient land. This is Ireland
Rock Farm Slane Boutique Camping (Glamping) offers you Gold-Certified Ecotourism Luxury Camping on the River Boyne between April and November for fun-packed holidays or private events in one or all of our 5 yurts and 2 shepherds huts
We offer stays for everyone, from single travellers, couples and families visiting Slane, Newgrange (Bru Na Boinne), the River Boyne or The Boyne Valley, as well as those wanting to participate in adventure activities and large groups of up to 30 people in the yurts and shepherds huts. We can also host weddings, celebrations and corporate events with Farm Tours, Group Activities, Hosted BBQs and other options.
Central to the campsite you will find Le Shack. This is where our Toilets, Showers and Self Catering Kitchen Facilities can be found. While we call it Le Shack, it’s far from that… For more details on our camping facilities please see BOUTIQUE CAMPING FACILITIES
Our Showers are gas heated offering lots of hot water for the morning or perhaps after an hours Kayaking on the River Boyne as part of our Active Hen package! Our toilets are in keeping with our Eco-tourism approach to the campsite and you may be surprised to find a compost loo or two in the block!
The main part of Le Shack is our kitchen-dining area where we have created quite a homely space for you to prepare food, eat and relax. With a fully equipped kitchen, large fridge, gas hob, wash up area – you will find it to be a home from home – or later in the evening the place to be for the party proper!
While we operate a self-catering campsite we are delighted to offer groups food packs which are one less thing to worry about and we will have ready for your arrival.
Breakfast Pack – fresh eggs from the farm, sausages, bacon and pudding for you to cook your own breakfast in Le Shack – €10pp (based on 2 night stay)
BBQ Meat Pack – seasonal cuts of meat, sausages, ribs and burgers all for you to cook yourself on Le Shack’s own BBQ – €15pp
Hosted BBQ – includes chef, all food, bread and salads and wash up of dishes afterwards – €25pp (minimum numbers of 10 adults required), or just come prepared with your own food and make use of the kitchen facilities on site.
The tents and camping experience is offered to you in partnership with Ireland’s leading tent company Bohemia Tents who provide yurts and marquees for private and festival hire. It was on Chaz Preston’s suggestion that Carina and Alex Mount Charles began to look at glamping as part of their ecotourism offering and so the Boutique Campsite was created.
Rock Farm Slane Glamping is a luxury eco campsite based on an organic farm and ecotourism project on the Slane Castle estate. The luxury eco campsite is situated on a beautiful hillside overlooking Slane Castle, enclosed in a secret grove of parkland trees overlooking meadows and the demesne woodlands on the North bank of the River Boyne. The Glamping boasts quick access to the beautiful Boyne Meadow along the River Boyne and the Boyne Navigation Ramparts Walk below which will take you into Slane or along the river to Navan. The parkland surrounding the boutique campsite is a designated Natural Heritage Area and Special Area of Conservation and includes an interesting bird population (herons, cormorants, egrets) and a thriving population of Irish hares who are often seen leaping across the field on their way to neighbouring pasture or woodland.
Our ethos is to offer you the best luxury camping experience while protecting and enhancing the local ecology. With that in mind, we will continue to provide the best habitat for the surrounding flora and fauna and introduce more people to the beauties of the Irish landscape. On the farm itself, we harvest our own rainwater and will process our waste water through natural systems which feed into a landscaped wetland. We intend to provide the majority of our energy needs from renewable energy. See our Ecotourism Policy section for more details.
