Channel your inner Bo Peep and try glamping in one of our snug Shepherd’s Huts. We have two of these charming hideaways: Apple and Pine. They are traditional wooden caravans on wheels which were used by shepherds to take shelter from unpredictable weather and to sleep in during the lambing season. Their use dates to the 15th century when they would have supplied the shepherd’s practical needs – dining, sleeping and living all in one. The designs vary a little from place to place and ours are quite traditional in appearance with rounded roofs and two slightly different exteriors. Apple has a green corrugated cladding while Pine has a wooden finish.
Our Shepherd’s Huts are small but perfectly formed and like Dr. Who’s Tardis seem much bigger inside than out. Each has a beautifully crafted and carefully furnished interior with a large and comfortable king-size bed with crisp white linen and snuggly duvets. The cosy and romantic space is heated by a dinky, highly efficient wood-fired stove. Each sleeps two people with space for a baby travel cot.
Visitors staying in the Shepherd’s Huts have full access to our campsite facilities including the communal fully equipped kitchen, chill-out space, hot showers, clay pizza oven and outdoor wood-burning hot tub. There is ample outdoor seating and eating areas, a fire pit, and a large green area for fun and games. We also have a natural swimming pool.
The Shepherd’s Huts are open all year round and are the perfect cosy romantic getaway.
Great place to stay, fresh air, great accommodation, friendly staff. Nice to have a walk around the grounds, have a look at the cows and pigs, get in the outdoor hot tub and then back to the warm cabin. 20-30min walk from Slane town... for dinner in the evening. Great accommodation at a great price. Highly recommend. David Quigley "
