If you’ve ever stayed with us at Rock Farm you’ll know how much we love welcoming families. Now we’ve put together this lively video showcasing all we have to offer for families (and other visitors too of course). Our working organic farm is part of the historic 1500 acre Slane Castle Estate and it’s a great place to holiday and a great base to explore the Boyne Valley.

Everyone’s holiday highlight is different – for some it’s meeting mischievous spotty piglets on a farm tour, others get a kick out of seeing an elusive kingfisher from their kayak down the Boyne and some couples tell us their blissful moment was listening to birdsong from the comfort of a wood fired outdoor hot tub. The good news is that you can do it all!

Families can arrive, park the car and forget about it, enjoying the luxury of walking everywhere onsite. Everything is fun when you’re glamping, the stars never seemed so bright and the barbeque dinner, instead of being a chore, becomes a highlight using Rock Farm organic meats of course.

Guided farm tours are fun for everyone. You’ll meet rare breed animals like Dexter cows and Tamworth pigs as well as visiting the market garden. See the fields of barley which is harvested for Slane Whiskey made at the Distillery beside Slane Castle. It’s a glimpse into our lives as organic farmers and artisan producer - a truly different world.

Kayaking on the beautiful River Boyne starts directly from the Farm and is a remarkable opportunity to see things from a totally different waterside perspective. The waters are safe and kayaking is suitable for children from 6 years up. If you’d rather keep your feet on the ground you might enjoy a river walk (looking out for kayakers and kingfishers!), a swim in the natural swimming pool or a relaxing hour in the outdoor hot tub.

It doesn’t matter what size your group is, our variety of glamping and self-catering options are remarkably versatile, making it easy to organise a multi-family stay or wider reunion. The yurts, shepherd’s huts and bell tents are attractively positioned so they work well for different groups while still ensuring privacy. Two yurts near each other might suit two families of four or six, or a larger group of 28-30 would fill all five yurts and the two shepherd’s huts. Each snug Yurt has its own wood burning stove and sleeps four or six people. The cosy Shepherd’s Huts also have wood-fired stoves, they sleep two people in a king size bed. The larger strawbale house, Lime House, is a generous and very comfortable holiday home sleeping up to 22 people.

Be warned though, Rock Farm is proving to be a popular venue so early booking for the summer is essential. We have good availability for early season and still a limited amount in late July/early August. Get booking!
