The Conynghams & Slane Castle

About the Distillery

The Slane Castle Distillery will be located the collection of 18th Century courtyards and farmyard buildings that are adjacent to the Conyngham ancestral family home – Slane Castle. Using traditional timber washbacks and copper pot stills, the distillery will produce a range of premium triple distilled single malt and pot still Irish whiskeys. From the 1,500 acres on the Slane Castle Estate the distillery will also be the only one in Ireland to grow, mill and malt its own barley. Growing trials of various barley varieties are currently underway and the Estate plans to grow older, rare strains and organic barley to create a boarder range of traditional whiskeys.
The distillery will also be open to visitors from 2017 and guests can enjoy an engaging tour that will take in the witness the whole production process in, beginning at the grain in the ground and ending with the whiskey in the bottle. See www.slanecastle.ie for more details.
