Samhain Symposium and National Women’s Enterprise Day

It was a busy autumn for Carina Conyngham who was in demand at various events around the county taking time out of her busy schedule to talk about Rock Farm, and the organic farming style we practice. Rock Farm is a 90 acre organic farm certified under the Organic Trust which uses permaculture principles.

In October Carina took part in National Women's Enterprise Day at The Monasterboice Inn, Drogheda.  Jointly hosted by Meath and Louth Local Enterprise Offices, this year’s theme was 'Empowering Business Together' which had real relevance for Rock Farm. MC was renowned Business Strategist Miriam Simon and other entrepreneurs and business leaders joined Carina on the panel including artist and designer, Caroline Duffy, and broadcaster and fashion stylist, Cathy O'Connor. The event was all about sharing invaluable insights and practical tips, and equally importantly taking the opportunity to network with fellow women entrepreneurs.

Earlier this month Carina was on the podium for a different kind of event – the Samhain Symposium during the Samhain Festival of Food & Culture in Kells Courthouse. Jacinta Dalton acted as MC and was joined by Carina, Hugh Maguire (Hugh Maguire Butchers), Gary O'Meara (CEO Meath Enterprise), Dr Brendan Dunford (Fonder Burrenbeo and Farming for Nature) and Simone Schiassi from the Future of Food Institute in Bologna in a section sponsored by Boyne Valley Food Innovation District. The expert panel took on a weighty question - "Is there a place in Irish Food and Farming Heritage in a Modern Global Food System?"

Dr Brendan Dunford, Founder Burrenbeo Trust & Farming for Nature presented on “Reimagining farming – from the Burren to the Boyne". Simone S Group CEO Future Food Holding talked about "Future of Food - when Foodtech fosters fertility, prosperity, and longevity”.

It’s fascinating to hear what experts from this country and beyond have to say about such an important subject and get the chance to introduce Rock Farm to a wider audience. Carina is always keen to take up these opportunities when she can.
